Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of violating the principle of democracy by not consulting the north eastern states over the recent Naga Peace Accord.
Questioning the secrecy of the peace deal, Gogoi raised questions asking how interlocutor RN Ravi could sign the agreement, as there could only be an agreement signed between NSCM (IM) and the government of India. “Why is the government keeping such an agreement as secret” Gogoi asked.
Manipur CM Okram Ibobi Singh too hit out at Union Home Minster Rajnath Singh alleging that he had called him to seek details of the peace accord. However, Ibobi alleged that he did not receive them even after assurances from the minister.
