Bengaluru: IAS officer DK Ravi's parents on Wednesday threatened to suicide if their demands are not met and demanded Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's address to their concern. The deceased officer's family broke its silence with his father demanding a CBI probe, saying Ravi was not the kind of person who could've killed himself. Ravi's body was found hanging in the bedroom of his residence in Tavarekere in South Bengaluru on Monday.
The 2009 batch IAS officer was the Joint Commissioner in State Commercial Taxes Department.
RTI activist Ganesh claimed that Ravi was soon going to conduct raids against several real estate developers. "He was a strong person. There are some documents with me against whom the IAS officer DK Ravi was to conducted raids. I hope during investigations no attempt is being made to malign his image as done in the past against an officer who was killed while trying expose a scam. He was looking to go behind several developers," Ganesh said.
He also alleged that the Karnataka government is in a hurry to label his death as a suicide. "He was a compassionate officer who was doing welfare activities for all. There has to a strong reason that police has to come out to prove that he committed suicide. Land lobby is a huge lobby in Bangalore. The government going with pre-notion saying it's a suicide case is not correct. Let the investigation begin first," he said.
Law Minister Sadananda Gowda, who is from Karnataka, is set to meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh to demand a probe by the CBI
in the case.
But Bengaluru Police Commissioner MN Reddi said that forensically, medically and examination of the situation all point to "prima facie understanding of a suicide".
