The Banaras Hindu University on Wednesday withdrew the hike in fees for all the courses following a protest by students at the varsity premises over the demand.
The students' demand was conveyed to the academic council after which the Vice-Chancellor withdrew the hike, BHU's Press, Publication and Publicity cell Chairman Ravi Pratap Singh said in a statement.
The students, who were protesting for the last three days, have been demanding immediate rollback in the fee hike for all the courses.
Singh alleged that during the protest "some outsiders" joined the students to lend support to their protest and pelted stones at the Vice-Chancellor's residence.
