New Delhi: The BJP has set a target of winning 60 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. The BJP had won 31 seats in the 2013 Assembly elections and it was the single largest party though with 28 seats, AAP had formed the 49-day government with support from eight Congress MLAs.
Giving the reason behind setting the Mission 60+ target, Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said, "That is a moderate assessment as we won 60 Assembly segments in the Lok Sabha elections."
He alleged that AAP has been building a web of lies that should be exposed. "AAP and Congress are same to us. AAP is not our principal opponent," Upadhyay said.
Asked why the BJP did not have any chief ministerial candidate, the Delhi BJP chief said, "We did not have one in Maharashtra or Haryana. Therefore, there is no need for projecting a CM candidate," he said.
PM and senior ministers will be campaigning in delhi
BJP leader Aarti Mehra said AAP was the main opponent of the BJP. "We are fully prepared for the elections. The BJP will win more than 60 seats. The Congress does not stand anywhere. The Congress will not get more than three or four seats. We are fully prepared to fight the AAP," she said.
The BJP has drafted a list of star campaigners like Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, senior leader LK Advani and Urban Administration Ministeration M Venkaiah Naidu.
The Congress has also not declared a chief ministerial candidate so far. The AAP would be contesting with Arvind Kejriwal as the party's face like the previous election.
