Infosys Limited, in association with medical equipment manufacturer Terumo Penpol Limited, celebrated National Blood Donation Day as a gala event on October 1 at Park Center, Technopark. Mayor K Chandrika inaugurated the function. Sunil, head of Infosys, Thiruvananthapuram Division, delivered the presidential address and C Balagopal, managing director of TPL, delivered the keynote address. Yoshihiro Kimura, Chairman, TPL, rewarded Cotton Hill Higher Secondary for promoting voluntary blood donation and for organising blood donation camps.
Camp held: The National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of the Cotton Hill Higher Secondary School for Girls, Vazhuthacaud, organised a blood donation drive and a blood donation camp in their school.
Collected blood: A unit from the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) led by Dr Vijayalakshmi collected blood from 30 donors. Another blood donation camp was conducted on Infosys premises where 50 people donated blood. Various activities such as mega blood donation camp, seminars, banners, advertisements, flash mobs etc to draw the public’s attention to voluntary blood donation and to increase the public awareness were held in the city.
