Bury past, brace for by-poll: Vaithilingam

PUDUCHERRY: Former Chief Minister and Congress leader V Vaithilingam exhorted the cadre to forget the party’s performance in the in the last elections and strive hard to secure the victory for party candidate V Arumugham in the Indira Nagar by-election. Addressing a meeting of the Congress workers here on Saturday, Vaithilingam said that the Ranagsamy government had failed on all fronts and was trying to implement the schemes announced by the previous Congress government. He charged that the Chief Minister had failed to implement the schemes that were announced by him during the polls.Vaithilingam charged that the ration rice was distributed only once in the last four months.On the law and order situation, he blamed the government for the increasing rate of murder in the UT, which had created a sense of fear among the people.The former CM charged that the AINRC chief had betrayed alliance partner AIADMK and people in the last elections.He said if Congress won the October 13 by-election, then there was a possibility of a change of government in the Union Territory.
