PUDUCHERRY: In the wake of the recent bank and jewellery outlet heists reported in Tamil Nadu, the police have appealed to bar owners and petrol station operators in the UT to help them by passing on any information on anti-social elements. The police made this appeal during a meeting  with the owners, managers and workers of the bars and petrol stations here on Friday. The meet, chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police V J Chandran, also saw the participation of SP N T Sivadasan and other top officials. The bar owners were asked to instal security alarms and CCTV cameras at the entrance itself so that the activities of the customers could be monitored by the managers of the bars, where most of these anti-socials planned their acts.  The cops also asked the bar managers not to give in to threats by the anti-socials if they ask for money or free drinks and to immediately inform the police instead. Next week, the police plan to hold a similar meeting with jewellers in the UT. These meetings are meant to enlist the support of the stakeholders to ensure their security and instil confidence among them.
