KOCHI: The CPM Ernakulam district committee has demanded that the pipeline from the LNG terminal should be laid along thinly-populated areas. In the district committee meeting held on Monday it was decided that the government gave appropriate compensation to the land owners for acquiring the land for the project. The district committee also blamed that authorities did not conduct any discussion with the public regarding the laying of the pipeline. The public representatives and ward members should have discussed about land acquisition with the public. Instead, the authorities conducted the land acquisition by implementing Petroleum and Mineral Pipe Act 1962, the committee said. The authorities, including local body representatives, should be ready to conduct discussion with the public and ensure that land owners will be provided better compensation for the land, committee said.
