Shettar was visibly moved by the plight of victims during a brief interaction with families and members of Alankar Endosulfan Virodhi Horata Samithi at Circuit House.

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Saturday promised to consider demands of providing compensation to victims of endosulfan poisoning on the lines of Kerala package.

He told reporters here that he had directed revenue officials to collect copies of National Human Rights Commission’s directions to Kerala government.

He also said the Centre must initiate steps to ban endosulfan throughout the country.

Shettar was visibly moved by the plight of victims during a brief interaction with families and members of Alankar Endosulfan Virodhi Horata Samithi at Circuit House.

Horata Samithi President Mohammed Peer presented a memorandum that estimated there were more than 5,000 endosulfan victims.

“Already a day care centre is functioning in Kokkada with the help of Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade,” said Shettar.

Four families carrying their bed-ridden children came at 5 am to meet the Chief Minister.
