HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will launch the distribution of Loan Eligibility Cards (LECs) to licensed cultivators (tenant farmers) in East Godavari district on Sunday. About 5.5 lakh licensed cultivators will receive LECs in 22 districts between July 11 and 16.Revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy told newsmen at Secretariat on Saturday that the LECs would help poor licensed cultivators get crop loans from banks, input subsidy, fertiliser subsidy, crop compensation and any other relief announced and distributed by the government. The card, valid for one year, will be renewed annually. Bankers have agreed to extend loans to all the eligible loan card holders, he said.In order to avoid duplication or manipulation, the LECs will come with security features like 85 GSM chemical with Ashoka Pillar water mark, unique design on inner page, numismatic text, state logo and ultra violate glowing ink.Appealing to political parties not to politicise the farmer-friendly scheme, the minister called upon even the resigned Telangana MLAs to participate in the card distribution functions. He released a brochure of the scheme on the occasion.
