BANGALORE: Even as his joy of winning the Council election is yet to sink in completely, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda seems to be in for fresh trouble — as expected, by his predecessor B S Yeddyurappa who is yearning to come back to power as soon as possible.Gowda on Friday morning rushed to Delhi to meet the party bosses. As per his earlier plans, Gowda was supposed to visit Delhi only next week.Though he termed his sudden visit as a courtesy call to share his joy of winning the election with the party national leaders, sources in the BJP maintain that the constant pressure from Yeddyurappa and his group forced him to knock the doors of the party high command in a hurried manner. In Delhi, Gowda met BJP national president Nitin Gadkari, senior BJP leaders L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and others and apprised them about the developments in the state.Yeddyurappa has been pressurising Gowda not to resign his Parliament membership so that his comeback efforts would not meet any hurdles in the future, sources said, adding that the former CM had also sent a message to the party leadership not to ask Gowda to resign at least for sometime. However, Yeddyurappa’s request seems to have had no effect on the party leadership. It was evident when Gowda, immediately after meeting the party bosses, expressed confidence of continuing in office for the remaining tenure. “I will complete the remaining tenure. I have full faith that my party leaders will allow me to continue in office,” he told reporters. He also made it clear that he is going to retain his Council membership much against the wishes of Yeddyurappa. He even announced the date of his resignation. “I will probably resign my Parliament membership on December 28,” the Chief Minister told reporters.Gowda is slated to visit Delhi again on December 28 when all these issues are likely to be debated in detail and a final decision will be taken.
