Raipur: Opposition Congress on Wednesday staged a walkout from the state Assembly Raipur in protest against the BJP-led Chhattisgarh government's decision to allow its employees to participate in RSS camps, stating that the move will lead to "saffronisation" of the administration.
Raising the issue in Zero Hour, Congress legislators Amit Jogi and Satyanarayan Sharma sought discussion on the issue under the rules 131 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha (discussion on matter of public interest), in the House.
"The state government has allowed its employees to join RSS. It is a question of faith on the constitution. How can the state government call RSS a non-political outfit," Jogi asked.
Supporting him on the issue, Satynarayan Sharma and other Congress members said it is a very serious matter and 'saffronisation' of the administration wouldn't be allowed.
They further sought discussion on the issue in the House under Rule 131. Subsequently, Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal said he had received their proposal of discussion on the issue and will take it into consideration.
Unsatisfied with his ruling, Congress members sought an immediate discussion on the issue in the House which was rejected by the Speaker following which protesting members staged a walkout from the House raising slogans--'Bhagwakaran Nahi Chalega' (saffronisation would not be allowed) and 'Bhagwakaran Band Karo' (stop saffronisation).
Countering their slogans, BJP MLA Mahesh Gagda and others started shouting 'Jai Shree Ram' inside the House. Chhattisgarh government had last month revoked the ban, which was imposed during undivided Madhya Pradesh, barring government employees from participating in RSS activities. However, the ban on participating in political activities is still in force.
