New Delhi: A CBI special court Tuesday decided to resume March 13 the hearing in a corruption case related to the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) held in New Delhi. The trial was put off after a defence counsel raised doubts over getting a fair trial.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge Talwant Singh said the scrutiny of documents of the case would resume March 13.
Judge Singh on February 9 adjourned the hearing in the case and sought directions from the district judge after defence counsel Ramesh Gupta, appearing for former CWG Organising Committee secretary general Lalit Bhanot, raised doubts over getting a fair trial.
The district judge on Monday refused to transfer the case to another court and sent back the file to Judge Singh to carry on the trial.
The special court is hearing a case against Kalmadi, Bhanot and nine others in a case related to alleged financial irregularities in awarding a Rs 141 crore contract for the time, scoring and records system for the 2010 mega sporting event.
