New Delhi: World and Commonwealth Games champion Sushil Kumar will miss next month's Asian Games. The Indian wrestler has decided to skip the event, as he wants to recover from the shoulder injury he suffered during last month's world championships.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, The Indian grappler said he took the decision keeping in mind the tough season ahead, which includes Olympic qualifiers.
"The worlds is a very tough competition and immediately after, I started preparing for Delhi. I didn't end up getting much recovery time. I need to do this because I have to be fully fit for the next season, which includes Olympic qualifiers," said Sushil.
Meanwhile, talking to CNN-IBN, Sushil said he is yet to take a final decision about his participation in the Asiad, adding the federation knew about the injuries he sustained.
Pradeep Kumar will replace Sushil in the 66kg category in Guangzhou.
It has been a remarkable year so far for Sushil, as the won gold in all three major competitions (Asian, World and Commmonwealth Games) that he participated in.
