THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Admirers of Christopher Paolini’s ‘Inheritance Cycle’ can grab their copy of the final book in the series at the on-going DC Books Fair, right on the day of its international release on November 8. An advance booking made by DC Books will ensure that 103 copies of ‘Inheritance’, the fourth and final book in the best selling series, will reach the book fair well in time for the much-hyped worldwide launch. The fair, which commenced on the Kanakakunnu Palace grounds on 31 October, has witnessed a huge turn-out of the book-reading public. While O V Vijayan’s magnum opus ‘Khasakkinte Ithihaasam’ continues to be one of the best-sellers, the collected works of Madhavikkutti retains its nostalgic allure. Chetan Bhagat’s latest release ‘Revolution 2020’ has again pitched the manager-turned-author at the top of sales charts and his previous books are also on the move. M Mukundan’s much-awaited ‘Delhi Gaadhakal’, a sequel to his autobiographical novel ‘Delhi’ has sold by the dozens since its release on November 1 at the book fair. And so has ‘Manjaveyil Maranangal’ by ‘Benyamin’, the author of the phenomenal best seller ‘Aadu Jeevitham’. Lonappan Nambadan’s autobiography ‘Sancharikkunna Viswasi’, novels ‘Manushyanu Oru Aamukham’ by Subhash Chandran and ‘Jeevithathinte Pusthakam’ by K P Ramanunni, which won the 2011 Vayalar Award, have sealed their positions among favourites. ‘Himaalayathile Gurukkanmaarodoppam’ by Swami Rama is another sought-after book. The recent passing away of computer wizard Steve Jobs has propelled the sales of his biography by Walter Isaacson. Thomas L Friedman and Michael Mandelbaum’s book that dissects the fall of the American dream, ‘That Used To Be Us: How America Fell Behind in the World It Invented and How We Can Come Back’ has found takers for good reasons. Classics, self-help books, dictionaries and books on fine arts are the major best-sellers. A 10 percent discount is available on all books. The book fair will conclude on November 13.
