Delhi doubles night service buses
The night buses would ply with frequencies of 10 to 50 minutes on 22 routes in the national capital.

New Delhi: In the wake of the brutal gangrape of a 23-year-old woman in a moving private white line bus in Delhi, Delhi Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami on Thursday flagged off 47 more night service buses, a move intended to provide a more safe public transport. There will also be security personnel on these buses while the bus staff have been sensitised to face the challenges that may arise, said a a Delhi government statement.

There are now 89 Delhi Transport Corporation buses on the roads of the national capital for the night service. The buses would ply with frequencies of 10 to 50 minutes on 22 routes.

The corporation has also sought services of 100 Home Guards - one for each bus. The drivers, conductors and guards on the buses will carry IDs.
