Bangalore: Former World No. 1 Boris Becker on Friday said Rafael Nadal has good chances of winning the French Open this year but added the Spaniard will face competition from Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.
"Rafa's chances are looking good. But then you have others like Djocovic, who is world No. 1. You also have Federer, who is still very good. There is question mark about Andy Murrey though, who is apparently injured. I don't know he is going to get healthy in time, but it looks Djocovic, Nadal or Federer," he told reporters during launch of new Mercedes-Benz GL-Class here.
A six-time Grand Slam singles champion and an Olympic gold medalist in doubles, Becker said Rafa, seeded No. 5, will bounce back into the top four. "We all know he was injured, but he came back in February and have won many tournaments including the Madrid Open Tennis Tournament," he said.
Replying to a query if it is time for Federer to call quits, Becker, the youngest-ever winner of the men's singles title at Wimbledon at the age of 17, said the Swiss is one of the best players in the world and should play as long as he wants to.
Becker said he didn't know many details about the IPL-type Tennis League being planned by Indian tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi. "I will see him soon and discuss," he said. Becker, an ardent soccer fan, said Bayern Munich is his favourite to win the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund "However, it doesn't mean it is a clear game. The two German teams playing at Wembley is bit of a historic moment," he said.
