Docs to restrict entry to Mahajan's ICU
Doctors at the Hinduja hospital fear more people visiting the sterile ICU could raise the chances of infection.

Mumbai: BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan, who was shot by his younger brother Pravin Mahajan on Saturday, continues to battle for life at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital.

Mahajan has already undergone two specialised surgeries and has been on a life-support system for the past four days.

The BJP leader was put on dialysis after his kidneys developed complications, and his condition was being monitored constantly.

The hospital authorities have decided to restrict visitors’ entry to the Intensive Care Unit where Mahajan is admitted.

Doctors at the Hinduja hospital fear more people visiting the sterile ICU could raise the chances of infection.

"His condition remains critical. The kidney function is poor and he has been put on dialysis," said Dr Anupam Verma, Director (administration) Hinduja Hospital, where Mahajan was admitted last Saturday after being shot and critically wounded by his younger brother Pravin.

Reading out from a medical bulletin, Verma said that "efforts were on to stabilise his condition as fluctuation continued to hamper his health."

He said that the senior BJP leader was under sedation and had not regained consciousness.
