Elopement case: SP files status report

MADURAI: Madurai Superintendent of Police Asra Garg appeared in person at the High Court Bench on Tuesday and filed a status report on the directions of a division bench, after he failed to file it on Monday. Originally two habeas corpus petitions were filed at the court, one each by S Vimala Devi and a police personnel (name withheld on request).According to the petitions, Vimala’s husband Suresh alias Mayakrishnan and the police personnel’s wife Suganya had eloped on January 9, 2012, due to their extra-marital affairs. Vimala and the police personnel both lodged  separate complaints . According to the status report, the two got married and are in Kerala.
