Srinagar: Security forces have trapped a group of terrorists in Hajin area of Bandipore district of Jammu and Kashmir. Intermittent gunfire is on between the two sides.
Authorities suspect there are two to three terrorists in the locality. The identity of the terrorists or the group to which they belong to is not yet clear.
In the last few months, the state has seen several encounters between security forces and terrorists. On January 26 an unidentified terrorist was killed in a gunbattle with security forces in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
A few days earlier, two Hizbul Mujahiddin terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama. The terrorists were holed up in a house in Nayina Batpora in Pulwama.
Another terrorist was gunned by security forces in a fierce gun battle at Zakura locality near Hazratbal in Srinagar on January 14. The security forces and the state police had surrounded the area following reports that two to three militants were hiding inside a house.
