TIRUNELVELI: As Units 1 and 2  at the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant have already been constructed, the government should hold talks with the anti-Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) protestors to solve the issue amicably, said senior CPI leader R  Nallakannu. Nallakannu, who visited Idinthakarai on Monday  along with state deputy secretary C Mahendran, party assembly whip Ulaganathan, district secretaries Sanmugavelu (Tirunelveli) Mohanraj (Thoothukudi) and former MP Appadurai met PMANE coordinator S.P. Udayakumar and other functionaries, including Pushparayan and M P  Jesuraj.Cases against Koodankulam protesters should be withdrawn as the protest was violence free, he added.Stating that the CPI was against the construction of KKNPP Units 3 and 4, the CPI leader urged the government to provide the financial package to other panchayats leading to Valliyoor.Nallakannu told the protestors that he and his party had faced the action of police, military and persons inpower during many struggles in the past. Insisting that the Central and State governments should approach the anti-KKNPP protesters cautiously, he said he had written to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on March 23, requesting her intervention to sort out the issue amicably.
