BANGALORE: State BJP president K S Eshwarappa took serious objection to former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde giving a clean chit to Union Minister for External Affairs S M Krishna on his alleged role in illegal mining. “It is not right on the part of Hegde to defend Krishna. Everybody knows that it was Krishna who de-reserved forest land for mining when he was the chief minister which paved the way for illegal mining,” Eshwarappa said. While referring to the claims of Team Anna that it had evidence against Krishna’s involvement in the illegal mining, Eshwarappa said: “Our suspicion on Hegde were vindicated. He (Hegde) indicted only BJP leaders while overlooking the deeds of Krishna and other opposition party leaders despite the state government providing sufficient documents against them.” Further, he said that the government was collecting evidence against three former chief ministers, S M Krishna, N Dharam Singh and H D Kumaraswamy, for their alleged role in the illegal mining and would soon make them public.
