BANGALORE: State BJP president K S Eshwarappa has candidly admitted that elected representatives need to be disciplined in order to enhance prestige of the party. “Indiscipline on the part of elected representatives will not be tolerated. Their undignified behaviour brings bad name to the party,” Eshwarappa said, while addressing the meeting of the executive committee of the BJP Bangalore city unit here on Saturday According to Eshwarappa, the party organisation is “like mother and elected representatives are like her children”. “We need to make them responsible and dignified in their behaviour in to enhance the mother’s prestige and we will do it,” Eshwarappa added. Though Eshwarappa did not name the elected representatives, it was obvious that he was referring to the three MLAs watching porn clips in the Assembly and others against whom a slew of corruption and illegal denotification charges were levelled. Eshwarappa also said he had received complaints of BBMP corporators being casual in their approach to the day-to-day problems of the people, especially about the roads and drinking water and warned that indifference to people’s grievances will not be tolerated. “We have been elected to serve the people. I want corporators to be amid people always. Summer has arrived and it is the duty of the corporators to ensure supply of drinking water, come what may. I also want corporators to ensure that the citizens get pothole-free roads,” Eshwarappa said and directed city BJP president Subbanarasimha to monitor and report to him performance and conduct of the BBMP corporators.
