It has been three weeks since she was abandoned in a battered state at Delhi's AIIMS hospital.

New Delhi: Two-year-old Falak was taken off the ventilator on Friday and the doctors at AIIMS say the baby girl has shown marginal improvement in last 24 hours. But the survival chances are dimming for Falak.

The two year old's chest infection has been cured. Dr Deepak Agarwal said "If the situation worsens again, we will put her back on it."

It has been three weeks since she was abandoned in a battered state at Delhi's AIIMS hospital.

The toddler has been responding well to medication and her lung and blood infection has receded, say the doctors. Doctors are now waiting for the brain infection to subside, after which they will conduct another surgery.

The police have made four arrests in connection with the case till now. They have also found a woman named Munni, who claims to be the mother of Falak. However, she is yet to undergo a DNA test.
