In the men's final later on Sunday, top seed Roger Federer will take on Serbian Novak Djokovic. This is Djokovic's first Grand Slam final and Federer's 10th straight Grand Slam final.
Federer cruised to the finals with an easy straight sets win in the semi-finals over Nikolay Davydenko.
But the road to the finals has been tough for his serbian counterpart who overcame David Ferrer in the semi finals. Though Federer holds a 4-1 edge over the Serbian, Djokovic has beaten him once in the last match they played.
Roger Federer has steamrolled his way to his 10th straight Grand Slam final. The top seed beat Nikolay Davydenko for a 10th straight time to book his place in the US Open final.
The match was one-sided with Federer claining the first two sets easily enough. The only time Davydenko showed some signs of unsettling the Fedex was at the start of the first set and in the third but Federer was determined to get this match done in straight sets.
Winning the last game to love - Roger Federer will play Novak Djokovic.
However, Djokovic is the last man to have beaten Federer. Djokovic entered his first Grand Slam final and very convincingly too. The Serbian overcame David Ferrer in the semifinals.
With the head to head reading in Ferrer's favour, the match was expected to be a see saw affair. And Djokovic started off shakily but recovered in time to win the first set 6-4. The second went along in similar fashion with Djokovic dominating most of the points and by the time the players hit the third set, Ferrer seemed to give in - losing the match in straight sets.
