THALASSERY: The All-India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has demanded stern action against the culprits involved in the sexual harassment of a woman from Tamil Nadu on the beach here a couple of days ago.Expressing shock at the incident, K K Sailaja, state secretary of the AIDWA, demanded a detailed investigation into the incident.The woman from Tamil Nadu who got into an autorickshaw from the railway station here was taken to the beach and molested by an unidentified gang.The local people who found the woman in a highly exhausted state informed the police about the incident.According to the local people, the police persuaded her to board a train bound for Tamil Nadu, instead of taking her to a hospital or provide medical treatment.The police version was that the woman had no complaint of harassment by any one.Disputing the police argument, the AIDWA leader said that the police statement that there was no complaint relating to the incident from the woman couldn’t be believed.She said that, according to the available evidence, the woman had been brutally raped by a group of people and that the police hadn’t taken the victim for medical examination.
