KOCHI: The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) has a key role to play in the overall development of Kochi, said KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala here on Sunday.He was talking at the reception meet organised by Kochi Citizen Forum to congratulate the newly appointed GCDA chairman N Venugopal. “The GCDA should act as a catalyst for the development activities that will be carried out in the city. The KPCC will extend its full support to the GCDA. Kochi being the commercial capital of Kerala, the development of the city is vital for the overall growth of the state,” Chennithala said.The people of the city want GCDA to hold the reins of various development activities that will be implemented in the city, he said.Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas, Mayor Tony Chammany, Hibi Eden MLA, Deputy Mayor B Bhadra, Ernakulam Karayogam president K P K Menon and secretary P Ramachandran spoke.
