New Delhi: A day after she played Good Samaritan in Delhi, doling out dollars for the uplift of slum children and made a public apology in front of the media for the bitter racism episode on the sets of British reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother, television star Jade Goody received some hate calls at her hotel room in New Delhi.
According to hotel sources, the hate calls came not from India but from a London-based Sri Lankan, who is angry over the way the British star is being accommodated in the subcontinent in spite of her alleged racist slurs.
The 25-year-old TV star had faced angry protests in Delhi on Tuesday when she went out on a charity mission in Delhi. Angry residents of a South-west Delhi area where she visited a children's home, had gheraoed her car, banged against its windows and shouted slogans against her.
On Wednesday, hotel sources said a “hate caller”, who identified herself as Prasantika, has been frantically calling up the five-star hotel in Delhi where Goody is staying, infuriated that she was being allowed to stay there.
Goody is on what she calls a charitable mission to India to donate a part of the "dirty" money that she had earned on the reality TV serial for destitute children. Many, however, see her trip as a 'publicity stunt' and all her charity work as a desperate attempt to rehabilitate her tarnished image.
The alleged "hate caller" even urged the hotel authorities to throw Goody out of the hotel as she had made racist comments against people in the region when she took on Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Brother.
On Tuesday, Goody donated $50,000, which she said was a part of the money she earned on the Big Brother show, to a local NGO. The TV star arrived in India on Monday on a four-day visit.
