Gulzar refers to Dadasaheb Phalke Award as 'shakhaa pe phool' and thanks fans for their well wishes in an audio message

In an audio message which has been released on YouTube, veteran lyricist Gulzar has thanked his fans for their unconditional support, love and appreciation on his winning Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the year 2013. "Sab doston ka, pehchaan walon, aur jo nahi pehchaante un sabka shukirya," Gulzar says. Gulzar received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honour in cinema given annually by the Government of India for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. The 79-year-old was overwhelmed and thanked a string of "gurus" and musical geniuses of the past and current generation for contributing to his success story.
