KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has initiated suo motu proceedings against the Cochin Minerals and Rutiles for discharging chemical waste into the Pampa.
The court initiated the action on the basis of an anonymous letter alleging that the company was discharging waste into the river in the name of water purification. It is the Pollution Control Board (PCB) which granted permission to the company for water purification.

A report published in a magazine said that the company had been discharging ferrous chloride and ferric chloride into Pampa since 2008.
