BANGALORE: Minister for Horticulture S A Ravindranath recently released a book ‘Horti Doctors’ Dairy’, on Thursday in Bangalore.The book aims to provide more technical knowledge to farmers and entrepreneurs.Speaking on the occasion, President of Association T Basavaraj said, “The book will act as a guide to farmers and give information on the departmental schemes, organic farming, how to maintain soil fertility, grievance management, nutritious value in fruits and vegetables, medicinal plants and much more.” Principal Secretary to the Department of Horticulture Vandita Sharma launched the website hortidoctors.com which provides information on these topics.P Hemalatha, Director of Horticulture, issued identity cards to the department staff .The book will be made available at the Department of Horticulture in Lalbagh at a cost of Rs 200.However, the minister urged the department to subsidise the cost for farmers.Addressing their concerns to the minister, the department officials requested the government to increase the staff strength and to provide vehicles for the smooth functioning of the official tasks.
