Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi Ernakualm district will conduct a hartal, in protest against Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail sector. Hotels and shops in the city will be closed as part of the hartal.
A protest march will be held from Marine Drive to Rajendra Maidan at 10.30 am. CPI state secretary Panniyan Ravindran, S Sarma MLA, BJP national committee member A T Ramesh and Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association state secretary Jose Mohan will participate in a protest meet to be held later at Rajendra Maidan.
The traffic police informed that traffic will be diverted on the Marine Drive-Rajendra Maidan stretch from 9.15 am to 1 pm. Buses from Kaloor, going through Marine Drive area, would be diverted through MG road. Buses from Vypin side will have to take a right turn to the Police Club side and will be diverted through MG Road.
Buses coming from Thevara side have to go through MG road to reach Kaloor-Edappally side. After the rally has begun, small vehicles will be diverted through Broadway-Banarjee Road and from there they will be diverted to Cloth Bazar Road. Vehicles to Kaloor area should take diversion through TD Road to Banarjee Road.Those participating in the rally will have to park their vehicles at Goshree Road after the CMFRI bridge.
