Rashmi Bansal’s third book, I have a dream, that was recently released and is about stories of 20 social entrepreneurs, has become the top-most non-fiction book in India, as per A C Nielsen Book Scan retail audit. The writer is also an entrepreneur and a youth expert. She is an economics graduate from Sophia College, Mumbai and an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad and has authored two bestselling books on entrepreneurship — Stay Hungry Stay Foolish, featuring stories of 25 MBA students who left lucrative jobs to follow the rough road of entrepreneurship and her second book, Connect the Dots focuses on non-MBA entrepreneurs.Talking about entrepreneurs, she says, “I have always believed that entrepreneurs are people who discover their passion for a particular reason and develop a sense of purpose and a meaning for their life. They might be working for themselves or may be working for somebody else. But they make sure they take ownership for their work and try and be the best in their field.” She also explains that, the inspiration behind writing this book was to give youth an understanding and a more focused view of making decisions in life. “Youth these days have become confused as they have many choices and even the parent’s support. And that is precisely why they keep shifting to different professions very often,” adding, “These stories will guide them and help them be more committed to work and life.” Bansal feels that maximum media coverage is a part of celebrities and entrepreneurs do not get much attention, and that’s was also why she choose to write about them to make sure their efforts are recognised.Expressing her views about social entrepreneurs, she says, “Being a social entrepreneur is not that easy a job.A person has to make use of management principles for the betterment of a social cause, which should also be self-sustaining. Hence, it is indeed a challenge.” She further adds, “All of these must be done using limited resources and should be high on impact. So they have to experiment on a lot of techniques and then finalise on one.”
