VISAKHAPATNAM: Indian companies are supporting over three lakh jobs in USA, according to India Business Forum Survey-20112 released by the Confederation of Indian Industries. TK Chand, chairman CII ,Vizag Zone and director (commercial) of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, in an interactive session with Consul General of US, Hyderabad, Katherine S Dhanani here on Monday said that since 2005, Indian companies have been collectively involved in 72 mergers and acquisitions in the United States, creating thousands of employment opportunities. Despite economic downturn, Indian companies in the US increased their turnover and 70 percent of them have increased their number of employees, he said.Terming Visakhapatnam as a region with tremendous business potential in the state, Chand said that the city of destiny has a high-tech steel plant, major and minor ports and more than 14 major industries in oil , power, chemical, IT, ferro-alloy, and pharma sectors. Responding to the presentation, Katherine S Dhanani indicated they were interested in trade and investment in the city. She requested the CII chairman to evolve plans for Exchange of Trade Mission between Visakhapatnam and the US.
