Infosys techie goes missing in Chennai
23-year-old Avik Mukherjee, who joined the software company last month, has been missing since Monday.

Chennai: An Infosys employee, working at the company's Mahindra World City centre here, has been missing since Monday. Software professional Avik Mukherjee, 23, lived with his roommates at a rented accommodation in Singaperumal Koil, 40 kilometres from the state capital.

According to his roommates, Avik was last seen on Monday.

Avik's roommate Devanjan Bhattacharya had informed his father Bhrigu Mukherjee that Avik did not return after he left home at 9.30 pm on Monday.

"When Devanjan called me on Tuesday and said that Avik had not returned, I asked him to lodge a complaint. He then filed a missing person complaint with the Maraimalainagar Police Station," said Bhrigu, a senior officer at Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh, said.

Avik’s parents arrived in the city on Thursday night.

Avik had joined Infosys on July 1 and had moved to the apartment after a seven-day orientation at the company guesthouse.

On visiting the Infosys office, he found that Avik had not been attending work for the past few days prior to his disappearance.

The police are investigating the matter.
