This time, 1,70,000 aspirants are to appear in the entrance exam on Sunday, as opposed to just 1,50,000 students last year.

Ahmedabad: The number of candidates appearing in the Common Admission Test (CAT) for the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) keeps on increasing every year.

This time, 1,70,000 aspirants are to appear in the entrance exam on Sunday, this being a record.

The figure was up from 1,50,000 candidates who appeared for the examination last year, CAT chairperson Ajay Pandey said.

The test, to select 1250 students, for the top business schools will be held at 24 cities on November 20.

At least one faculty member from any of the six IIMs will be present at each exam centre to supervise fair conduct of the test, said Pandey of the IIM Ahmedabad.

The six IIMs are based in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore and Kozhikode.
