London: The burnout issue once again took centrestage with South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis joining the chorus for cutting down on the amount of cricket being played.

The South African vice-captain backed players' representative Tim May who said that the ICC's future tours programme was a disaster and needed reviewing.

"They (players) are the ones who make a difference between a 10,000 crowd and a sell-out," Kallis said.

"Teams are going to end up resting their top players, but the public want to see them so it's a big problem."

Kallis, a veteran of over 100 Tests and 200 ODIs, also expressed concern that genuine all-rounders may disappear from the game.

"Young players won't want to be an all-rounder if they see how quickly you get worn out. It would be better to go down the route of being a specialist batsman or bowler."
