HYDERABAD: Forensic experts who conducted the postmortem on Dr. Kiran Reddy, the niece of Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy, found strains of severe pressure on her face which they said could be the result of either smothering or poisoning.Sources in Gandhi hospital, where the postmortem was conducted, said that Kiran Reddy, who was found dead recently in suspicious circumstances, had blood accumulation in the upper part of her head which is symptomatic of death by smothering. “It was also found that she might have suffered a minor head injury. But it is difficult to say if she was attacked on the head, as it is an extremely minor injury,” sources told Express. The experts also said that the victim had stomach congestion which could be caused due to poisoning. Since police have already gained information that she had consumed alcohol during the party she attended a few hours before she died, police suspect she might have been given poison mixed in her drink. The investigators are also not ruling out the possibility of Dr, Kiran dying due to an overdose of some “party drug” mixed in her drink.“We could not smell much alcohol content inside her body. We have sent blood samples and contents found inside her stomach to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Some times if alcohol has already been absorbed by the body, its presence can only be ascertained through blood tests,” sources added. Police strongly suspect the role of Kiran’s husband Chaitanya Reddy or his brother Nitin Reddy but are tight lipped about it. It is learnt there is tremendous pressure on the city police from both the families (Kiran Reddy’s and Chaitanya Reddy’s). Chaitanya is a distant relative of information and public relations minister DK Aruna.City police commissioner AK Khan told reporters, “We have information that the couple had an altercation during the party and also later at their residence in Jubilee Hills. Statements of all family members have been recorded,” Khan said.
