HYDERABAD: Union petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy’s remark that he does not believe in regionalism and subregionalism, drew flak from the BJP which said that Reddy’s statement indicates that the UPA government was not in favour of Telangana state.Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said: “Reddy, who has a distinction of working in different political parties, has categorically said that he does not believe in regionalism and sub-regionalism, which indicates that the Congress party was not in favour of smaller states and against the creation of separate Telangana state.’’ He also claimed that BJP is the only national party, which is always in favour of smaller states for better administration and governance.Rudy welcomed Baba Ramdev calling off his nine-day fast and said that the party was committed to fight against corruption and wanted black money stashed away in foreign countries be brought back to India. He also alleged that the Congress was trying to communalise the corruption issues raised by Baba Ramdev and social activist Anna Hazare. On the proposed communal violence bill, he said his party would oppose the bill. He demanded the Centre to elicit public opinion on the bill before introducing it in the parliament.
