JEE Main 2019 | West Bengal candidates appearing for JEE Main exam, which begins today (January 8) and ends on Saturday (January 12), will not be affected due to the two-day strike called by CPIM-led trade union CITU.
"The government is with the candidates, if they face any problem, the administration will surely help them," a newspaper report quoted Education Minister Partha Chatterjee as saying.
The state transport minister Suvendu Adhikari had also assured commuters and candidates that they would not face any problems. The state government will ply 2,200 buses in Kolkata, said the minister. The government will keep 30% extra buses for unforeseen situations.
More than 9.5 lakh candidates will be appearing for the JEE Main exam being conducted this month. This is the first year that JEE Main exam is being conducted entirely in the computer-based mode and also the first time that JEE Main is being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
The strike has been called by a consortium of ten central trade unions and has received support from organisations like the AITUC, CITU, HMS, AIUTUC, TUCC, AICCTU, along with employees in the banking and insurance sector.
