KOCHI: Parents should consider the wishes of their children before fixing the marriage, said High Court Judge C N Ramachandran Nair, after inaugurating the legal aid clinic opened by the Kerala Legal Service Authority (Kelsa) at Ponekkara on Sunday.Speaking on the occasion, Justice Ramachandran Nair said that, “Parents should consider the opinion of the children, because family related cases and number of divorces are increasing in the state.Cases are increasing day-by-day even after setting up family courts in every district.” Principal Sessions Judge B Kemal Pasha presided over the function.“Since fraudulent activities are on the rise, legal awareness is a must nowadays,” he said.The legal aid clinics run by Kelsa are intended to provide legal relief easily accessible to the backward sections of the society.The clinics are manned by para legal volunteers selected by KELSA.Functioning almost on the lines of primary health centres, the thrust is on the basic legal services such as drafting of notices, replies, applications and petitions.Volunteers manning the clinic will also attempt to resolve the disputes from maturing into litigations.KELSA member secretary K Mohandas offered felicitations.
