Kannur: A 72-year-old man, believed to be dead by his kin, returned home on Friday to the surprise of the "bereaved" family. The family of one Moidu from Naduvanadu village near Irutty town believed that he was no more after they came across an unclaimed body which bore close resemblance to the missing man a week ago.
They took the body to the village, mistaking it to be that of Moidu, and buried it in a graveyard of a local mosque. But to their shock, Moidu walked into the village on Friday.
His family members came to know from newspapers that a man, having Moidu's physical resemblance, was found dead in front of a shop at Kelakam near Kannur last week.
After 'identifying' the body, they brought it home with the consent of the police and buried it after prayers.
On returning home, Moidu said he had been wandering in various places after his small business in Mysore broke.
Shocked by what he heard when he stepped into the village, Moidu alleged that the whole issue involved 'some hanky-panky' as he had seen the photo of the 'deadman' in newspapers which bore 'no resemblance' to him.
