Lanka Navy uses stones to attack TN fishermen

RAMANATHAPURAM: The Sri Lankan Navy allegedly hurled stones at some fishing boats carrying Tamil Nadu fishermen at mid-sea on Sunday.Sources said around 702 mechanised boats ventured into sea for fishing on Saturday. The Lankan navy vessels surrounded some of them and allegedly hurled stones damaging the windscreens. But no one suffered injuries in the attack. Soon after, the fishermen escaped from the spot.Kingkiston of Pamban said the Sri Lankan navy personnel carried stones in their vessels. Some other fishermen said the navy hurled stones on the boats for using banned nets.However, no complaint was lodged with the fisheries department or other officials about the incident.
