Lawyer held for land sale with fake papers

CHENNAI: The city police arrested a lawyer for selling land using forged documents at Velachery on Friday. Police said, lawyer Chandrasekaran along with his brother Sambasivam sold a 2400 square feet plot at Velachery to one Shankar of Pozhichalur in 1995.When Shankar got an encumbrance certificate for the land when he found that the land belonged to another person. A complaint was lodged with the police, who then arrested Chandrasekaran for land grabbing. Police said they found that he had forged documents with the help of his brother and sold the land.Teacher held for land sale with fake docs A 60-year-old retired teacher from Tirunelveli district was arrested for making fake documents and selling land worth Rs 100 crore at Aynavaram on Friday.Police said Jayanthi Kannappan of Gopalapuram, lodged a complaint when she had found that her property at Aynavaram was sold to another person. Police later arrested one Victor Raju of Kalakadu village.Man arrested for Rs 15 lakh fraudA 32-year-old marketing executive was arrested for misappropriating Rs 15 lakh from a broiler company at Pondy Bazaar on Friday.Police said they arrested Kannan, a marketing executive from Andhra Pradesh, who worked in the Pondy Bazaar branch of a broiler company based in Bangalore was arrested following a complaint from the company’s general manager.Woman arrested for robbing elderlyThe city police arrested one Nandakumari of Agaram in Perumbur for snatching two gold chains and earrings from a septuagenarian, Kamala, on Saturday.Nandakumari had arrived at the house wearing a parda and snatched an old woman’s ornaments. Earlier, she visited the son and acquainted his family. Nandakumari was caught near Perumbur railway station.Physiotherapist heldThe city police arrested a physiotherapist turned pimp and rescued three girls in MGR Nagar on Friday.Manohar (33), a physiotherapist, solicited customers coming to the clinic. Acting on a tip-off, officials posed as a patient and called up the centre asking for treatment. The decoy went to the clinic from where he was taken to another place. Police said their team followed them and caught Manohar. Three girls belonging to Chennai were also rescued.
