HYDERABAD: A private college lecturer created a scene by attempting suicide at the Saroornagar police station on Wednesday alleging that he was roughed up by a police inspector for no fault of his on Tuesday night.  But he made a hasty retreat after he was warned of action for preventing the police inspector from discharging his duty.According to reports, Vikram Goud, who resides near Saroornagar tank, was ‘beaten up’ by Vanasthalipuram police inspector B Ravindar Reddy. Vikram claimed that he was standing near his house when a police patrol team arrived at the place and asked him to go into his house. When Goud told Ravindar Reddy that the place  did not come under the Vanasthalipuram police limits, the latter got angry and ‘thrashed’ the former. Incidentally, Ravindar Reddy was night incharge inspector of Vanasthalipuram and Saroornagar divisions on Tuesday.Goud along with his friend Rajender Reddy went to the Saroornagar police station this morning to lodge a complaint against Ravindar Reddy. When the police did not respond properly to his complaint, Goud tried to set himself ablaze. But his immolation bid was foiled by the police. When the police threatened to register a case against him for his suicide bid, Goud left the place. When contacted, Ravindar Reddy said he was patrolling near Saroornagar tank when he found about 10 persons consuming liquor in an open place causing  nuisance. When he asked them to leave the place, they picked an argument with him. Saroornagar police inspector K Purnachandra Rao said no case was registered against anyone in this connection.
