VELLORE: A few hours after his friend ended his life by jumping in front of a train on Wednesday, a 25-year-old youth, Raja, allegedly committed suicide by consuming alcohol laced with poison. He died on Wednesday night at the Tirupattur Government Hospital. Police said that Raja went home drunk on Wednesday afternoon and told his mother that he had consumed poison-laced alcohol as he could not bear the grief of his friend Mani’s death. Mani, who was suffering from TB, committed suicide on Wednesday by jumping in front of a train near Tirupattur Railway Station, said the police. They added that Raja and Mani were residents of Sadasivam Padayachi Street in Tirupattur Town and had been friends for several years. Raja’s mother rushed him to the Government Hospital with the help of her neighbours. However, he died later on Wednesday.
