VISAKHAPATNAM: A local court on Friday sentenced a man, convicted of killing his daughter, to death and his wife to one-year imprisonment.Judge A Raja Prasad Babu of the Mahila Court-cum-Sixth Additional District Court delivered the verdict in the case that dates back to last November.Arun Kumar, an employee of a private company, had married Aruna in 2009. Both are residents of Kancharapalem in the City. On Oct 23 last year, Aruna gave birth to a girl-child who was later named as Lavanya. Disappointed that he hadn’t had a son, Kumar began harassing his wife.A month later on November 28, he strangled the little one to death and buried the body on the Jodugullapalem beach. The same day, he lodged a complaint with the police claiming that someone had kidnapped his daughter. The next day, the police found the body and extracted the truth from him.
