Mangalore homestay attack was not right
Mangalore homestay attack was not right

City Express speaks to Sri Rama Sene leader Pramod Muthalik to find out his reaction to the recent attack by vigilantes

What is your reaction to this incident?

It is not right the way certain section of youths misbehaved with the young girls and boys. But if you look at the other side, innocent boys and especially girls are misusing their freedom by adopting 'pub and bar culture' and using celebrations as an excuse. It is common in that age group to get attracted to all these fun activities but it should not be lobbied. Everyone from the  Police department and at the government level and people like us should get more serious in protecting today ‘“ youths.

What if your sister or daughter face a similar situation?

I am not married, but I do have a sister. Though she is not encouraged to take part in such celebrations, everyone present there are also like my sisters. The incident should not have taken place. As a Hindu, it is my sincere duty to protect the lives and integrity of these girls. There should be a reason behind this, which is currently getting investigated. But why is it that only when Hindus fight against indiscipline, it becomes a big issue and protests happen. There was a recent incident on Hosur train where a girl was pushed by four Muslim boys. Why have the social organisations kept quiet in that case? They have always found faults with the Hindu activists and not other communities.

Don’t you think such incidents bring bad name to the outfits along with Mangalore and Karnataka on the whole?

If you take Bangalore, the city is always been noticed for terrorism, rape and truck mafia. With Mangalore, a few incidents has got this place a bad name. Otherwise, if you see, the city is quite disciplined. My first propaganda was to call my associates of Ram Sene group and advise them to only protest for the right cause and for the betterment of the society. I will also discuss with the head and other senior members of the Hindu Jagran Vedika about this issue. As of now, investigations are on whether the youths were actually from the Hindu organisation because the attackers in the resort did not wear a banner nor had an identity card with them to prove that they were from Hindu Jagran.

What's your reaction?
