New Delhi: The controversial Broadcast Bill, which could give sweeping powers to authorities to control media, is likely to be introduced in the coming monsoon session of Parliament.

"When introduced in the Parliament, it will be the most media-friendly legislation in the world," Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters on the sidelines of a briefing of the Union Cabinet.

Dasmunsi said representatives from the electronic media had already been consulted on the measure and the government was in the process of discussing it with print media.

Asked if the Bill could be tabled in the monsoon session, that starts on July 24, he said, "We will take a chance."
