BANGALORE: The fate of Metro is a matter of mere permissions from Railway Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) and Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) now.
At present, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is awaiting the visit of RDSP officials who will conduct the oscillation trials for the Metro. The RDSO,however,is awaiting the permission from the Commissioner of Railway Safety who should give RDSO the approval to conduct the trials. "We are waiting for the Commissioner of Railway Safety to give approval to conduct the oscillation trials," Executive Director (Administration) and Spokesperson of the RDSO A K Mathur said.
BMRCL had run into a major hurdle after the RDSO official listed flaws with the track structure and schedule of dimension. "Following the oscillation trials, the RDSO will decide on the safe operational speed for Bangalore Metro," Mathur added. Further, he also added that since the running distance for Metro is only 6.7 km,the trial process will be swifter. Despite this, Singh told Express the RDSO will conduct the oscillation trials by this month end."After the approval from RDSO, if BMRCL meets all our parameters, we can carry out the safety inspection in three to four days," he added.Managing Director of Delhi Metro E Sreedharan who was in the city on last Saturday had indicated that BMRCL might be losing `50 lakh per day due loss in the form of cost escalation of inputs, manpower and utilities, including failure to earn traffic revenue because of nonoperation of services.
